Sildance/AcroDanza had a great Spring and Summer; we kept pretty busy making dance art happening in so many ways with different wonderful collaborators!

March: Silvita Traveled to Cairo Egypt as a dancer/collaborator of Erica Mott Productions for “Mycelial: Street Parliament”  project. We had a fantastic first artistic exchange with our Egyptian artists collaborators.

May: Sildance/AcroDanza collaborated with playwright Lani Montreal to create choreography and performance for “Nanay” and “La Llorona” as part of “The Night of the Living Moms” the production presented at Free Street Theater.

June: Sildance/AcroDanza filmed its first acro-dance short “Del Otro Lado” on the streets of Chicago collaborating with filmmaker Alex Yasinovsky, composer John Geary and  dancers Christopher Knowlton and Myself.  Stay tune for the premiere of the film!!!

July: Silvita worked on the second residency of “Mycelial: Street Parliament” project of Erica Mott productions to continue creating the work started in Egypt.  Our Egyptian dance artists Ezzat Ismail and Mounir Saeed came to Chicago for 3 weeks. The residency ended with a successful informal performance of the work in progress at High Concept Labs.  Stay tune for the great premiere in January and our tour back in Egypt next year!!!  But we need your support to make this happened.  Please consider making a tax-deductable donation to our 3Arts Campaing. Every little bit of support helps to make this international collaboration possible! Click the link to donate!    Gracias!!!

“Bindis and Bruises” brings awareness to issues of dating, domestic and dating violence. Dr. Sita, a survivor of domestic violence, becomes a psychologist to help the women in her Indian-American community to find hope and strength for an empowered future. Through theatre and dance, we hear the individual stories of survivors and uncover a unified voice. Her story is my story. You are not alone. We are not alone.
“Bindis and Bruises”
